Check Out Trust Now Online!

Posted by DamienMalice on July 4th, 2007

“Trust”, the short film/trailer we completed for the John Woo Stranglehold contest (sponsored by Midway Games and MySpace) is currently online and can be viewed by clicking HERE. If you have a MySpace account please take the time to rate the movie (and get bonus points by commenting on it!)

Be warned that this version has been playing a little dark on some people’s computers. Currently the contest rules prohibit us from posting the video anywhere else, but…we’ve never been much for rules here at DMIC so next week we’re going to put up a link to a much cleaner version that doesn’t have all that crap MySpace compression. Keep an eye out for it and let us know what you think.

The Takedown Nearing Completion

Posted by DamienMalice on June 22nd, 2007

The Takedown was the first film we shot this year and due to several other projects getting in the way has taken much longer to edit than ever expected. DMIC is pleased to announce however that The Takedown will be finished by July 5th in order to make the deadline for entry into the Austin Film Festival. This short is a departure from films we’ve done in the past, it doesn’t have the usual hallmarks of a classic DMIC film such as chickens exploding from asses, supposedly dead historical heroes seeking vengeance, or transvestites removing certain pieces of…um, anatomy.

Instead this film is an examination of the way cops can legally bend and manipulate the current laws in order to do what they please in their never ending war on drugs. Written and produced by Erik Marshall this film will shock and inform you with the ways police can tread on what the average American have been taught are basic constitutional rights since they first entered middle school.

If you haven’t watched the teaser trailer yet then please do so now by clicking here to watch the hi-res version, or here to if you have a slower connection and need the low-res version.

In addition to the trailer you can also check out some behind the scenes photos of the production. (Click here to check out the pics now! All photos courtesy of the multi-talented Leyna O’Quinn.)We’ll keep you updated as to when and where you can see the finished film as well as some other fun surprises that are coming soon.

We’re Pretty Big in Italy

Posted by DamienMalice on June 22nd, 2007

Recently our hit count on youtube for Queens of the Street started going up again. I was surprised since I kind of figured that after Grindhouse played out here that the hits would level off and just sort of trickle in occasionally. Today when I checked the links section on youtube that lets you know where people are coming from to view your video I saw that the top one was:

http://www.gqonline.it/cont/020zoo/021art/0705/3100/

Further investigation revealed that the website we are getting so many hits from is GQ Online-in Italy! Queens of the Street is one of four video links included with a brief article on the release of Tarantino’s “Death Proof” segment of Grindhouse in Italy. I believe this is just further proof that Italians have excellent taste in films.
